The Outsiders

The balloon has an innate vulnerability, so easily swayed and so easily destroyed by the tiniest prick.  These images are metaphorical. The balloons, my actors, play out human emotions and human agendas. I allow them to be spontaneous, to fight or be still as their mood (or their reaction to the air) dictates. Like humans they get tangled up in each other, they feel lonely, they reflect on lifes mysteries and they dance for joy in the sunlight. As Sylvia Plath described them, they are 'Soul Animals'.
